TRAINING RESOURCES

ukksearch is committed to assisting businesses in the skill development of existing employees, increasing employee productivity and the growth of the company. These improvements result in the creation of new jobs, retention of jobs that otherwise may have been eliminated, and an increase in wages for trained workers.

On-the-Job Training

Employers can be reimbursed up to 50% for the hourly wage, for the contracted period, for hiring and training an eligible person into a new full-time position. The person must qualify according to specific program requirements. The new employee is pad at the regular wage and receives any normal benefits during the training period.

Classroom Training

A person who is qualified under specific programs may be able to attend up to two years of training. This should provide better qualified and more highly skilled candidates to meet your business needs.

Referral Services

If you have specific employment or training needs, and the WorkForce Center cannot provide these for you, and we may be able to coordinate other services to meet your needs. Skill training or other customized training services are available through a number of sources. The WorkForce Center staff may be able to serve as a referral center for you.

Internet/On-Line Services

The local WorkForce Center office has electronic access to the internet. This includes the MN Department of Employment & Economic Development website, the U.S. Department of Labor/Statistics website, and other world wide informational services. www.mnwfc.org An extensive resource library of Labor Market Information is offered for business planning or expansion. The Workforce Center also has a Labor Market Analyst that is available to address your specific needs.

M.C.I.S

The Minnesota Career Information System matches skills and interests to careers, training and educational services. MCIS provides the most current, accurate and comprehensive national, state, and local occupational and educational information available. Updated annually, the information is designed for effective use in career development, educational planning and employment transitions. www.mncis.intocareers.org

Testing Services

Computerized and written testing is available through the Job Service at the WorkForce Center. These tests are designed to assess your applicants for the level of skill you desire for you job openings.

The SCORE Association

Counselors to America's Small Business. The SCORE Association (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is the premiere, free business counseling and advice service found in the United States. SCORE counselors are experienced working and retired business professionals who help you start or grow your business. Services include:

  • free confidential business counseling
  • free mentoring and coaching
  • business plan evaluation
  • financial planning
  • market assessment
  • low cost seminars/workshops
